Crisis | Collaboration | Exchange

Water Pressures uses the power of media to connect the water scarce region of Rajasthan, India and the water rich campus of Northwestern University as these two diverse communities work together to address the global water crisis.

CRISIS. 1 in 8 people worldwide lack access to safe water. In the Thar Desert outside Rajasthan, India, local rainfall is just two inches/year. The average individual in Rajasthan uses 4 liters of water/day. In the US 400 liters/day.
COLLABORATION.The key to the global water crisis is collaboration. The Water Pressures documentary helps build and highlight collaborative water management projects in the deserts of India and at a major U.S. university on Lake Michigan.
EXCHANGE. In March 2010 students from Northwestern and Grinnell Universities traveled to Rajasthan, India and experienced first-hand life in one of the most water-distressed regions of the world. While in India, they were immersed in village life and observed day-to-day water management practices applied to agriculture and rural health.
